Pressure Swing Adsorption (PSA) is a technology used to produce nitrogen gas from compressed air. The process involves passing compressed air through a bed of carbon molecular sieves (CMS). Oxygen molecules are preferentially adsorbed onto the CMS, while nitrogen molecules pass through and are collected as a product. By periodically reducing the pressure in the adsorption vessel, the adsorbed oxygen is desorbed, regenerating the CMS for the next adsorption cycle.
